15 Salient Features of Windows Phone 8

Microsoft, on June 20, 2012, unveiled its new modified baby, Windows Phone 8, and some of its salient features were made public. It is a new generation of the operating system and we are expecting it to hit the market somewhere in the month of November to make maximum benefit of the holiday season. This device will be launched by four companies: Nokia, HTC, Samsung and Huawei. Windows Phone 8 will replace its previously Windows CE-based architecture; this sure makes it a more advanced and a future generation OS.

With the new added excellent features, Windows Phone 8 is all set to compete with its nearest rivals: IOS and Android.

Now let us see what are the super salient features of Windows Phone 8 with which Microsoft is expecting to sweep the Smartphone market:

1. Windows Phone 8 will allow devices with larger screens such as devices with "WVGA 800x480 15:9","WXGA 1280x768 15:9","720p 1280x720 16:9"  screen resolutions.

2.  For super fast operation, Windows Phone 8 supports multi-core processors. This includes supporting CPU’s up to 64 cores. This sure is going to impress everyone in the field.

3. Near Field Communication (NFC): NFC is a short- range wire-less connectivity mechanism. Windows Phone 8 supports NFC which basically is used to share contents.

4. Additional external storage capacity is the demand of the time when huge amount of information is to be stored and carried with safety. Microsoft has understood this fact perfectly and thus accordingly configured the Windows Phone 8 for microSD cards. Though for a general use, internal storage capacity is enough.

5. With a thoughtful insight, Windows Phone 8 was specifically configured for backward compatibility with Windows Phone 7 apps. This is to please their old users.

6. We also observed a redesigned home screen incorporating resizable tiles across the entire screen.

7. Windows 8 have new user interface wherein the user can enlarge or shrink the icon according to his needs. The widget is quite spacious.

8. Another salient feature includes Skype integration in the device.

9. Microsoft has tried to make WP 8 more appealing by embedding digital application Maps in it. Besides having the function as providing direction, digital maps can be found in the offline state as well.

10.  With new Wallet hub to integrate NFC payments and coupon websites, WP 8 is going to attract a lot of techies.

11. Further, WP 8 will support over-the-air updates.

12. All Windows Phone 8 devices will receive software support for at least 18 months after their release.

13. Internet Explorer 10 is the default browser of Windows Phone 8 which is more toned up with the Smartphones OS.

14. It also have VoIP and video chat integration for any VoIP or video chat app.

15. Another amazing feature of Windows Phone 8 is speech recognization.

With so many salient features it is almost impossible to resist grabbing it at the very first instance. Still there are some features which this super baby lacks such as:

1.   Windows Phone 8 will not be made available as an update for existing Windows Phone 7 devices. This is going to disappoint the current users of devices with Windows Phone 7. It would have been more better if Windows 7 could be smoothly updated to enjoy salient features of new Windows 8.

2. The Body design is not so attractive. It could have been made more sleek and bold by paying some more attention to the device body design.

3. Windows Phone 8 lacks Google search engine, though it has its own search engine (Bing) but most of the users would have preferred Google over Bing. This drawback could reduce its market demand.

Whoa!!!!15 Pros with only 3 cons; Microsoft is sure to make a big hit with this new beauty, WP 8. You may also rush for the advance booking to possess this wonderful device incorporated in any of the four official companies incorporating it.
